A Himalayan salt lamp is a beautiful natural product, but because salt attracts moisture, it needs some extra care and attention. Fortunately, maintenance is very simple. With this short guide, you can keep your salt lamp beautiful, safe, and in top condition.
1. Keep your salt lamp lit regularly
Salt is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts moisture. The warmth from the bulb prevents this.
- Therefore, light your lamp daily, preferably continuously
- Use an E14 bulb of 15–25W

2. Cleaning: always with a dry cloth
- Use a dry microfiber cloth
- Never use water
- Do not scrub or scour
3. Protect furniture from moisture
A salt lamp can sometimes "sweat" slightly (condense).
- Always use the wooden base
- Optionally, use an extra coaster (wood, cork, glass)
- Avoid metal: this can rust
4. Avoid extremely humid rooms
It's best not to place a salt lamp in:
- bathrooms
- basements
- unheated storage rooms
- humid verandas
5. What if your salt lamp "sweats"?
Droplets of saltwater are normal. Here's what you can do:
- Turn off the lamp
- Remove the cable and bulb
- Let it dry on a towel for 24–48 hours
- Then light it daily again
6. Salt grains or powder?
This happens due to moisture + drying out. Solution: light the lamp more regularly and keep the coaster clean.
7. Cable & safety
- Only use CE-certified E14 cables
- Occasionally check the fitting for rust
- Keep the cable dry
